National Safety & Compliance Manager

Overview

 The opportunity 

We’re looking for an experienced National Safety & Compliance Manager to take the lead on WHS, OHS, and transport compliance across our national operations. Reporting directly to the Chief Operating Officer, you will champion a proactive safety culture while ensuring full compliance with NHVR, PBS, HVNL, and CoR requirements. What you will do

  • Maintaining our Safety Management System (RAPID)
  • Provide Safety updates and conduct Toolbox meetings
  • Develop, implement, and monitor transport compliance programs and policies
  • Ensure compliance with NHVR regulations, fatigue management, CoR and Safety processes.
  • Interpret and monitor changes to CoR and HVNL legislation, updating RAPID and Coles induction processes to maintain full compliance across all sites, carriers, and transport contractors.
  • Oversee risk management, incident investigation, and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Provide training and support to operational staff on compliance matters
  • Develop and manage internal and external audit schedules (e.g., NHVAS), conducting in-depth audits and producing detailed reports with actionable recommendations
  • Liaise with regulatory bodies and stay up to date with legislative changes
  • Manage compliance systems (e.g. MTDATA, Rapid, NHVR Portal)
  • Serve as the primary expert for operations teams, senior leadership, and external stakeholders on all transport compliance matters

Requirements

About you

  • Proven experience gained in transport compliance operations with a solid and detailed understanding of CoR legislation, HVNL and WHS practices
  • Demonstrated experience in national-level compliance audits and accreditation programs
  • Clear, professional communication and excellent interpersonal skills
  • A collaborative team player with a mature, proactive approach
  • Familiarity with accreditation frameworks, particularly the Performance Based Standards (PBS) and National Heavy Vehicle Accreditation Scheme (NHVAS)
  • Passionate and highly motivated
  • Reliable, approachable, punctual with a professional attitude
  • Qualification in OHS/Training & Assessment (preferable)
